Specializing in drug discovery science, molecular biology, and immunology, he has led research spanning from basic research to clinical applications for many years. After conducting research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the US, and at RIKEN (Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) in Japan, he was appointed as a professor in the Department of Biological Science and Technology at the Tokyo University of Science in 1999.
Starting with tumor virus research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he has consistently promoted the exploration of therapeutic target molecules, the development of antibody production technologies, and the research and development of antibody therapeutics. He holds world-class achievements in the field of diagnostic and therapeutic antibodies, including approximately 700 types of antibodies used as research reagents.
